A true biodiversity hotspot, the Marais Monroy is home to some exceptional flora and fauna: willow, hop, black alder, dazzling firefly, green frog, hanging sedge, damselfly, dragonfly, great spotted woodpecker, kingfisher, pipistrelle, kite owl, red squirrel, etc.
The Marais Monroy is a 10-hectare area, 8 of which are wetlands (one of only two wetlands in an urban area in France) on the outskirts of Nogent-sur-Oise.
A trail with educational panels explains this rich biodiversity and how to preserve it.
Supervised outings are also organised throughout the year by the CPIE de l'Oise and other environmental awareness associations.
To protect this area of fragile biodiversity, a few rules must be observed: no barbecues, no picnics, no vehicular traffic, including bicycles and scooters. This is a sensitive natural area, and dogs are not permitted, even on a lead. The paths are not accessible to people with reduced mobility. Make sure you bring mosquito repellent!
The site is only open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 2.30pm to 6pm at 33 rue Marcel Deneux in Nogent-sur-Oise.
Nearest free car parks: small car park at no. 16 rue Marcel Deneux or Place de la République.
Accessible by bus with the AXO network, line C1, Deneux stop located just in front of the entrance.
